    Football academy!

Pupils from Churchmoor and Sherbrook have been accessing football sessions delivered by Mr Hallam at a local facility, Canoville Football Centre, focussing on harnessing their football skills, such technical and tactical development!

P16 and Y11 pupils have been role models and sports leaders for our Y7s, 8s and 9s during these sessions and shown excellent resilience, effort, and teamwork.

    Class of the week: U1

9U1 have engaged in many wonderful activities during this half term including building rockets and hovercrafts using recyclable materials as part of a KS4 Science unit on Newton's laws of motion.  Students thoroughly enjoyed this and using practical experiences in lessons helped them to further their understanding of motion.  Resultant forces were demonstrated through practicals where students used trolleys to produce push and pull forces, and also making links with calculating unknown distances between 2 points using Pythagorean theorems.

During PSHE lessons, our theme was British values and there were great opportunities for students to engage in debates and express viewpoints to form their own laws.  Great teamwork skills and discussions took place relating to different governing systems and even forming their own House of Commons to pass through their own laws.  There was awareness of our human rights and some students even imagined forming their own country with exclusive and independent laws.

9U1 loved creating "seed bombs" during Preparation for Adulthood lessons and developing their awareness and appreciation for the environment, through litter picking and planting new life around the school.  A few students also took part in walking alpacas at a nearby farm and showed amazing interest and care for animals and their environment. During Strands, 9U1 displayed great imaginary skills in D&D games and the class are due a group reward at the end of the half-term for collaboration and being adaptable in role play and during extracurricular activities.

    Top Dojo points!

Chaiyan at Churchmoor and Riley F at Sherbrook, a big well done to you both for your efforts!
