Pupil Parliament!
This year, we started our own pupil parliament! All students had a chance to write their own manifesto, explaining their strengths and values, and then each class held an election to vote for their MP to represent their viewpoints and wants. Our MPs were then hard at work throughout the year, collecting and delivering their classes' views on topics such as uniform, the school environment, and even creating a new school menu! Our MPs even attended a special tasting session to try our new menu options from the suggestions received, and they clearly have good taste and the new menu has been a hit (especially the cheesy BBQ chicken!).
Well done to all of our students who were brave enough to run for Pupil Parliament, and thank you to our MPs for their dedication to sharing their fellow pupils' wishes!
Class of the week: M2
This term, M2 have been learning all about recounts in their English lessons. A recount is a way of retelling events in the order they happened, using past tense and time connectives like first, then, and finally.
To bring their learning to life, the class went on an exciting trip to the local church and park. At the church, they had the chance to look around, ask questions, and learn more about its history and role in the community. Afterwards, they enjoyed some time at the park with Miss Hanks, Miss Moss and Miss Staton, playing on the swings, slide and roundabout!
This week, M2 have used their experiences to write their own recounts. They have done a fantastic job using descriptive language and time connectives to tell the story of their day.
M2 have also been busy exploring practical maths topics including volume, capacity, and money. They’ve enjoyed hands-on activities: measuring liquids, comparing containers, and solving real-life problems involving coins and notes. The class has shown great enthusiasm and growing confidence as they’ve applied their learning in fun and meaningful ways.
Well done, M2!
